Week of September 18th

What a gracious and merciful God we serve! How sweet it is to know Jesus, to walk and talk with Him. Is Jesus precious to you?
Here is a video clip of Rod witnessing to two teenagers at the Int. Folk Festival.
Friday we joined the Fayetteville team to sow seeds at the “Fourth Friday Downtown” event. It tends to be a very nice family environment with musicians set up on the sidewalks, window shopping, and even free bottles of water from one of the local churches. Hundreds of people received gospel tracts and many heard some open air preaching. It was great!
Story by Shayna: I spoke with a young lady, Talia, that when asked “do you have a Christian background?” her response was “well sort of; I’ve strayed away. I’m a realist and I can’t really believe that there is a Heaven and Hell.” She believes that there is a God “because there have been things that happened in my life, that could have happened only if there is a higher power.” We went through a few of the 10 Commandments and she realized that she would be guilty of breaking God’s Law and if there is a Hell, than that’s where she deserves to go. We discussed the accuracy of the Bible and the reality of an afterlife. “Just like here on earth; if you break the Law, you must be punished.” She was grateful for the talk and as she walked away she said “I’ll be cracking open the Bible tonight.” Praise the Lord! I also told her to visit Dr. Kent Hovind’s website; God has blessed him with some great knowledge on Creationism. I encourage everyone to watch the free videos on the website. www.drdino.com
Sunday I joined up with the seed sowing team in Fayetteville along with Rod, Kerrigan, and Bill from Raleigh for the International Folk Festival. Lot's of people from many different cultures. Very unique festival with some very tasty food from what I've heard (never got a chance to try any though). While the parade was going on one of the announcers was introducing the country of India and had made a very blasphemous statement. The announcer stated that in India all of the world's major religions have come together to help mankind. That statement is completely false. All of the religions of the world except for Jesus Christ and his true followers are hurting mankind. Jesus Christ stands apart, separated from the rest of the religions of the world. Jesus made it clear that He was the only way to heaven. Something interesting that I read from the book "Revolution in World Missions" by K.P. Yohannan (www.gfa.org) is that Hinduism (which is the religion of the majority in India) is the cause of all the starvation, diseases, famines and pestilences. Why is that? Well simply stated. The people of Hinduism refuse to eat the sacred cow. That's right folks, there are plenty of cattle in India but people refuse to eat what God has graciously given them because they are tricked by the devil into believing that the cow should be worshipped. Oh, how sad! Hinduists also worship over 3 million gods - one is the.....rat! That's right, they worship the rodent. They revere the rat, especially the albino ones. They refuse to kill them so there is a tremendous population of rats that well out number the people of India. The rats eat the small amount of food that people have in India along with bringing devastating diseases. The humanitarian efforts to this country of India, is not going to help these people in the long run. This country is spiritually oppressed by the devil and his demons. What will help this country is ridding it of Hinduism by preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. So if you feel led to reach out to these people do it, not through humanitarian efforts, but through the preaching of the gospel. Only then will the peoples needs be truly met. Check out www.gfa.org and www.heartcrymissionary.com I'm not saying you shouldn't help these people with material things, because everyone needs food, drink, and some sort of shelter. But what I'm getting at is that the emphasis should be focused on preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations.
